I teach history at SMU. I used to do the same at the University of Warwick, UK-though I'm from New York. I ran cross-country in high school. In England I ran ten-milers and a few half-marathons, then dropped down here to maybe 2 to 5 miles for a long time. Inspired by the example of a few members I know (Nikki Davis, Christine Glaze, Molly Anderson, and Michelle Scarlett), I trained up for the Trot and the White Rock Half last fall and was astonished to find myself completing both, especially since I'm on the right side of 60 (meaning I got here). I'm going to help with the Half Marathon training program that Nikki is organizing and volunteered for the Bloomin' Four Mile race. I'm thinking (shudder) about the full White Rock next December.
