Celebrate the Accomplishments of 2007 for the Dallas Running Club

This list of 2007 achievements was presented by President Libby Jones to the membership at the club's holiday party and annual meeting on December 11.

  • Beginning of January: 1,500 members; Now: 2,500 members!
  • Revamped the City Championship Series points system (includes race participation and volunteering, not just about winning races)
  • Politics-free environment where everyone’s primary focus is to have fun
  • Enjoyed additional marketing exposure with the new name (name changed in October 2006)
  • Free half marathon training program in the fall – 211 finished DRC Half - In the spring, we will offer half and full marathon training
  • Offered new merchandise: runner’s hats, sportsacks, tech singlets and shirts – increased visibility of new DRC name and logo
  • Another successful half marathon – annual fundraiser that funds most of the year
  • At the end of May, the City of Dallas announced renovation plans for Sunset Bay and terminated our use of the building.  We relocated our clubhouse to a shopping center at Garland Rd and Buckner Blvd.  2400 sq ft, kitchen, bathroom, conference area.  We subleased a portion of the storage space and an office out to the Dallas Marathon.
  • Chosen by the public, according to Competitor Texas magazine, we are the #1 running club in Texas and have the #2 half marathon in Texas.
  • Paid a contractor for timing monthly races to accelerate reporting results and increase accuracy of results
  • Monthly races were attended by 2-3 times more runners and walkers than in the past
  • Reimplemented the timing of the 5K races – in 2007, offered 4 5Ks.
  • Selected by the RRCA as one of the 3 top large club websites in the US
  • Started offering Inside Texas Running magazine in March
  • First full year using the Members Only website which allows for race registration, membership renewal/joining, and merchandise sales
