DRC-Sponsored Aid Station at the Dallas White Rock Marathon

Hear What Members Had to Say | See the Pictures

Every December the DRC members and friend gather to support the Dallas White Rock Half and Full Marathon runners by providing an aid station at White Rock Lake.  It can be quite the party with everybody cheering and dressing up in costumes to cheer for the race participants.

Our leader, “Blackie” Blaquiere begins setting up the volunteer area with hot tea, coffee or chocolate, donuts, bagels and various breakfast goodies around 7:00 to 7:30 am.  Then tables and water are set up and the volunteers begin filling thousands of cups with energy drinks and water. Candy or fruit is also provided for the runners.

For race participants it is always a thrill to see their friends and family members encouraging, cheering or high-fiving them on to the finish line.

Hear What Our Members Who Ran the Race Had to Say:

"While running the marathon this past Sunday, the jelly bean platter at Mile 16 actually "saved me".   Sure, I was in massive slowdown mode at that point, but without the unexpected treat, the second half of the race would have been much worse."
- Jonathan

"You guys are awesome!! I was happy to see you at mile 16...the support you all provided was soooooooooooooo appreciated at that point!  Yeah!! cliff bars!! what a beautiful sight!  Thanks for the "comfort" food ...it helped me get to the finish..."
- Kate

"A big thank you to those that were out there taking care of us. They were all still smiling and giving encouragement even when I went through the aid station."
- Bruce
